The beginning

Prior to school starting I had been telling Abby when school started she would start sleeping in her own bed, in her own room. I had done the CIO method with her when she was 9 mos. old. Unfortunately it was bad timing, for whatever reason I did it the week before we were going to California. Consequently, new surroundings, the child wouldn't sleep by herself, and the previous week of agony I had put myself through was futile. She went back to co-sleeping with me and Phillip, and has been since.

I had expected a struggle from her. This past Sunday, the day before her first day of school, she came and said "I have to sleep in my bed like a big girl don't I?" I told her yes. She then proceeded to break my heart. This is actually when my crying saga began, and it continued on into Monday morning and throughout the day Monday.

She said "I don't want to grow up, I'm not going to have my memories anymore." "I'm not going to remember when I was 4, or being your baby." Trying to fight the tears LOL I told her she would remember, I remember when I was a little girl. I told her she is going to make new memories to go with her existing ones. I told her she is going to learn new things, and meet new friends, and she's going to have so much fun doing it. Then she said "I don't want to grow to an adult and leave you!" I told her she didn't have to, she could stay with me forever! Then " I can't. Everyone has to grow up and leave their mommies, I will miss you all the time though." She asked me to rock her which I used to do every night until she was 3. So I did. She said " You have to take lots of pictures of me and you, so I never forget being your baby". I fucking LOST IT!!! She cried, I cried. It was a very sad night for both us. I realized this is the beginning of letting her go as my baby, and she realizes this is the beginning of me letting her go as my little baby. She told me she was scared to go to school, and of course I told her I was EXCITED she was going, because she is going to have so much fun! Her face lit up, and I left her to go to sleep.

Monday morning I barely had to nudge her to wake her, she was ready! She had picked out her clothes the night before, and knew how she wanted to wear her hair. She was ecstatic! She has slept in her bed since Sunday night. She's my big girl.

She's gotten green at school every day this week! I've decided to implement the same discipline plan at home. If she gets green at school and home she gets a treat on the weekend. The puppy is doing well, accidents here and there. She's turning out to be quite fiesty.

Soccer practice was yesterday. I haven't uploaded the pics yet. She is her mothers child. Her attention span is almost non existant. She was more concerned with entertaining than participating in the activities. She was dancing on the field, blowing me kisses, and kept saying "are we done with this station yet!?" or she would blurt out "I need a water break!" or she kept saying "Mommy cheer for me!" LMAO! She's rather animated. I could hear the other parents making comments to each other. Fuck em. I'm sorry your kid lacks some friggin personality. Sheesh. Anway, I put her in soccer because that's what she wanted, and it's for fun people....they're 5! Her first game is on the 12th. This should be quite entertaining to say the least. I will be getting video of these children running all over the field. HA!

I'm glad it's Friday. I desperately need this weekend to recoup. I've been sick since Monday. I'm exhausted!

Toodles.

First day of school!

Yes, I cried like a baby. I took her to school, sat with her in the cafeteria until her teacher came to collect the class. I went to work until 2:00, went back to her school at 2:40 to walk her through the process of getting on the bus ( I was the only parent that did that), followed the bus to her destination and explained that's where she would stay until I pick her up, got into it with the receptionist at said place. Then came home, cooked dinner, washed a load of laundry, gave her a shower, helped her pick out her clothes for tomorrow, went over the routine of the day AGAIN. Now I'm posting pictures of my baby all grown up. :( She was SO ready to go. She had alot of fun she said. :)

Ready, set, GO

My new tat

Yes it's the year I was born, and my favorite number. It's on my wrist. Phillip thinks it's ghey as I'm sure many others will share in his opinion, and I don't care. :)

Yes...I did it again

I swear it's the last time. LMAO! We got a half chihuahua/half teacup chihuahua today. So far we are having no issues going potty outside, but Phillip and I have accepted that there will be pee and poop on the floor at some point. She is a very sweet 8 week old puppy. I did rescue her. She and her sibling were found with there mama on the side of the road. :( Needless to say there are some spots on her that need some healing, but otherwise she's a healthy little puppy. Abby said "I'm pretty sure she's not going to attack me, I'm way bigger". LOL Some pics are below. Her name is Coco.

On another note, we have been bad note free from school. Yay! Abby is super excited to start school on Monday. I'm just plain terrified. She starts soccer in September. I have a feeling the rest of this year is going to fly right past me if I blink too many times.

That's all I have for now.

So starts the countdown.

It's August. :( Not long now and it will be the morning of the first day of school. I'm trying to not be a total first time mom and buy everything monogrammed with her name, and make sure everything matches. Because I've been a mom for five years now, and I've been through this with four other children, I know it will all be lost by the second week. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do it anyway, because dammit it's only going to happen once.

Aside from the little fun things that come with this, so does the not so fun stuff. I am having to grasp earlier and faster than anticipated, that my child has alot of my personality. It only started showing up when she turned 5. She went from quiet, sweet, and mild mannered, to- loud, obnoxious, defiant, sassy, and rebellious. She was sent home with her first bad note EVER in her backpack last week. The note said "Abby is having a difficult time not talking during circle time. She also continues to talk when the teacher is talking, even after the teacher has asked her not to."

Abby of course looked at me with her puppy dog eyes and said " I know I was bad". I asked her what happened, and why she was talking during "teacher's turn", to which I already knew the response...and she didn't fail me. LMAO "The other kids were talking to me." Ok. Easy enough to address, or easy enough to determine ultimately if this is the case. I told her "You're not bad. If other kids are talking and bothering you, raise your hand and let the teacher know. Otherwise your mouth is to remain closed when the teacher is talking." She agreed.

This afternoon when I picked her up, the teacher had the note ready. This note said "Abby had a very rough day today. She would not be quiet regardless of the many requests to do so. We had a new teacher here today that was sitting by Abby, and was asking her questions, and Abby ignored her and continued playing and laughing with her friends. She continued all day not doing as the teacher asked her to do. How would you like me to handle this in the class?

On the one hand, calm down lady she's 5 1/2. On the other hand, it's starts with being 5 1/2. My response was, remove her from the class (completely) for 5 minutes. If she persists, eliminate one of her activities.

This time Abby had no excuse when I asked her why she had misbehaved. I asked her if she understood that when the teacher is talking she is to be quiet unless otherwise instructed? "Yes". Then you know this behaviour is unacceptable and not tolerated? "Yes." So, I made very clear that since she has made clear to me that she understands and has no questions, if she receives another bad note, there will be severe consequences. She of course thinks the natural "I'm going to get a spanking", or " I'll be grounded", and so she voiced that she knew these consequences. Too bad for her I was that kid, and knowing your consequences only makes it easier to make bad choices. So I quickly corrected her and informed her that she will not know what the consequences are. It could be no swimming, no soccer, no sleep overs, no t.v., I can take away all your toys, etc.. I told her to think hard before she opened her mouth in class, as anything could be the result of that bad choice. She was somewhat shocked. She had not yet imagined those possibilities. Granted she will still weigh what she wants to do against the potential consequences when she gets older, which is what I want her to do. Lesser of the two evils. The point is to make her own her choices.

This could be the last I ever hear of the problem, or it could not. Either way, my sadness is I have to let go of "mommy" mode and start demanding more from her, to prepare her for her long road aho. It just makes me want to cry.

Stay tuned....

Moving along

So I just signed Abby up for soccer. I'm going to have to take her uniform and have it seriously altered. LMAO! They had YM for shirt and YS for pants, both of which I already know will drag the ground on her.

I can't believe I have one month left before she goes to Kindy. I don't know if I've said this, but I really don't want her to go!!

Phillip finally stepped up from his beatdown sunfire. He is now pimping a Lexus! You heard me right. Now he looks like a true asian. LMAO! Abby likes his car. I know he drove that sunfire to save money, and because he doesn't care what he drives but, some things you just shouldn't scrimp on.

Anyway, Saturday my girls and I were supposed to go to Six Flags but, Phillip decided to have a bbq at the house, so we have rescheduled. I am finally going to get my tat filled in on the 31st, and I may come out with a new one. ;)

Phillip and I decided to go to Shreveport our birthday weekend with another couple. We will do the nice hotel with spa. Woohoo! I don't care to gamble longer than an hour. So...I'd like to say I'll be shopping but, it's Shreveport. It's a getaway so, I'm excited either way. Abby will get to stay with Meena and Jason, and talk their freekin ears off.

That's really all to report here. Nothing really exciting.
