The little things

I had a terrible week last week. I won't recap all that, but I will recap the good things.

I had the best shave of my life using the razor I bought for Phillip! It was as close to a wax as you can get! So smooth! My razor with a brand new blade doesn't shave like that. I'm buying a mans razor this weekend.

I started exercising. Nothing huge, just squats with my pilates ball and stair steps. I'm trying to tone my ass and legs as I will have to get in a bathing suit in less than 2 weeks. Besides that, it makes me feel good. Who doesn't like feeling good??

Phillip got me a tanning membership for Mother's Day! Yay! So even if I don't get all tone, I'll be tan. ;)

Phillip and I are in discussion of going to Las Vegas for our birthdays in August. We're supposed to be going to Korea in September but, that's becoming quite the challenge. Abby starts school in August, she also starts soccer in August. She would be out of school for 2 weeks and obviously miss soccer as well. I'm really pushing to hold off on going until end of this year, or beginning of next. I know it's brutally cold around that time, and there will be enormous heaps of snow but, we have hot weather here. I will enjoy it regardless of the weather.

All in all I feel great, very optimistic. It's a great feeling.

Bad weather

So, some bad weather came through last night apparently. I woke up this morning and took a shower as usual. I was getting ready to blow dry my hair when I heard a dripping sound. I made sure I turned the shower off completely, made sure the sink faucet was off, all were off tight. Then I realized it's the toilet. Well, not exactly. The exhaust fan above the toilet was dripping into the toilet from 2 different places. I take really hot showers so I thought maybe it was condensation, even though it hadn't happened before. So I got up there to try and wipe it off...nope, it's a leak.

So I went about my business of getting Abby up and ready for school, I was just going to tell Phillip when I woke him up. So I got Abby ready and took her into the kitchen to get her breakfast and I looked outside the window and...THE FENCE WAS GONE, in 2 places!! The back part of our fence and the right side!! I was like WTF??! Of course Abby had the answer to what happened "the wind blowed it down". LMAO! I went and told Phillip "Our fence is gone, and the roof in the bathroom is leaking". He shot outta the bed (which does not normally happen in the mornings) LMAO!.

We already contacted the insurance adjuster and appartently it can be as long as 3 days before an adjustor can come assess the damage. Phillip already found someone to replace the fence and fix the leak in case the insurance doesn't cover it. We have to contact HOA to find out if responsibility of the fence is split or if it in fact belongs to the other neighbors. The inside part of the fence faces them, not us. Usually that makes it their fence, their responsibility. We'll see.

I sign Abby up for soccer in June, she starts playing in August. She's SUPER excited. I have to register her for school on Monday :( at least I have the day off. I need it. She will do summer camp May-July, she gets to do a field trip every day, and play in the water every day. They have lots of other fun activities lined up that are not coming to mind at the moment. So she will be busy this Summer. My sweet princess.

I'll keep you posted on the fence.

****UPDATE
Forgot to mention the name change debaucle. Apparently if I'm getting married and change my name, I'm not a terrorist. But since I'm not marrying and I'm changing my last name I have to submit fresh fingerprints for the FBI to do a background check, submit a petition to have my name changed, and get an order signed by a judge okaying the name change, THEN I pay $208 on top of all that. What kind of fuckery is that??

Lazy Sundays

Sunday is always a good time to post. Not much going on usually. This is my day to relax.

Friday Phillip, Abby, and I went and watched softball home run derby at Big League Dreams in Mansfield. Jeff Hall was there (professional softball player for those who don't know). Phillip's dream is to travel and play softball...and get paid for it. LOL

Saturday Abby and I went shopping (for her), ate lunch at Sonic (her choice) and went and saw Monsters Vs. Aliens in 3D. It was a cute movie. I wish I had my camera with me, my phone doesn't have a flash. She looked so cute with her little glasses on. She kept grabbing at the stuff coming out the screen. It was funny. She ended up not wearing her glasses, she said it freaked her out with those things flying at her. LOL Phillip played softball all day Saturday, came home at 3 a.m. Unfortunately some sports complexes run weird brackets. Sometimes you only played 3 games all day, but you've been there 12 hours. Screw that, but softball enthusiasts don't seem to mind.

Today Abby and I had lunch with my dad while Phillip mowed the lawn and then caught up on his missed sleep. I had a small nap. Now Abby has her friend over and they're playing dress up.

Tomorrow Abby and I are going to get our passports. $100 a person!! Sheesh. I've decided to legally change my name to Kim. Abby starts school in August and I don't want to have a different last name than she does. Who knows if or when Phillip and I will get married. Maybe our 10 yr. anniversary? Neither one of us are a fan of it. We've considered it several times, and the planning becomes stressful and we just say fuck it. I think it's unnecessary. For all intents and purposes we are husband and wife, all we lack is the piece of paper. Some people think it's not a marriage until you have a piece of paper. Those people have alot to learn, I wish them luck. Phillip and I will celebrate our 7 year anniversary on May 19th.

That's my excitement for now. =)

Blah...

Been a busy bee here. Abby is Miss popular so I've had birthday party after birthday party for WEEKS now. They're her school friends which always makes it awkward for me when attending them. Most of the parents are significantly older than me, and on the snotty side. They all drive BMW's and Lexus' and look at me funny for rolling up in a Hyundai.

I got her graduation pictures! Yes...graduation. Shut your mouth, when you're kid gets there you'll be all about it! She's graduating from Pre-K and going to big school. :( They are so cute!! The link is http://www.photogifts.lifetouch.com Portrait id C00045-08041 Access code HX6N, if you want to check them out. There is a graduation ceremony on April 28th, I'll post pics from that too.

I can tell Summer is vastly approaching. Phillip is playing softball 2 nights a week for now. By the time May rolls around it will be 4, by June it will be 7. I'm a softball widow. He has a Korean team he plays on too, so we will be traveling to other cities at some point I'm sure for tournaments. Phillip's brother is probably coming to visit sometime in May. We're going to Korea in September, I'm in the process of getting mine and Abby's passport. I have the paperwork filled out, just have to get our pictures and go deliver the paperwork. We have to physically go down there since neither of us have ever had a passport. Phillip already has one. We have a semi vacation end of May for my grandmother's (dad's side) birthday. It's my birth place San Antone. We'll do Sea World and the Alamo, and of course the River Walk. At least it's time off and I don't have to do anything. It will suffice even though it is not the vacation I've been longing for :)

Abby was supposed to be getting her tonsils out this Friday, that might be postponed. I have a blood disorder that is genetic, the mother is the carrier of this disorder. I took her to the hematologist on Thursday to have her tested. He was a total jack ass. Anyway, he didn't order her bloodwork stat since this is an "elective" surgery not an emergency. Once they confirm she has it they will have to test different treatments to see which one makes her blood clot. Since he didn't order them stat I most likely won't know the results until Wednesday or Thursday which clearly leaves no time for the additional tests before her surgery Friday. Very aggravating.

That's my update for now. I'm going to go finish being lazy. =)

Don't bite the hand that feeds

You all get the benefit of reading my rant. Two HUGE pet peeves of mine are as follows.

1) People who draw off of you like a leach, whether it be emotionally or financially, and then deny you ever contributed anything in their life and say they did it all on their own.
2) People who enable the above types of people.

Everybody in life needs help at one time or another be it emotional or financial. The worst thing to do to someone who has helped you in either category or BOTH is to deny them your gratitude. There are some people (namely the ones in category #1) who go through life without ever earning anything they have. Why? Because people in category #2 come to the rescue and clean up their mess, ergo preventing category #1 from accepting any responsibility or full consequence for their actions. What type of results does category #2 create you might ask?? Let me enlighten you. It creates ingrates who continue to make the same decisions over and over, blame everyone else because they keep getting the same result, and also encourages category #1's attitude of "the world owes me" and "I've always been so mistreated".

I'd like to address category #1 first.
Everybody has a sob story, and I assure you there are people with far worse ones than the ones you have conjured up. Accept responsibility for YOUR decisions, the results are YOURS and YOURS alone. Appreciate the help you receive, and give credit for it.Try to make better decisions to prevent having to ask for it again since you have such a hard time admitting you received any in the first place!!

Category #2.
Stop cushioning the blow of category #1's repeated stupid decisions. You aren't helping. You can help by telling the truth and pointing out the obvious, and teaching them how to make decisions. Cleaning up their mess and protecting their feelings only encourages their self pity and also gives them comfort as they plan yet another bad decision to make.

Thank you. **End rant.

Well...I tried

After all that effort in finding the right dog, I took her to the Little Elm animal shelter today. Not even 7 days that lasted.

She didn't at any point show signs of aggression, but definitely had a dominance about her. Last night Abby was sitting on the floor on her knees by my feet petting the dog. I was watching t.v. but could see Abby and the dog. All was fine I saw Abby move a little and within seconds the dog launched after Abby growl/bark and all and knocked Abby's feet out from under her and onto her back. Thankfully I reacted just as quickly and yanked (thought I might have snapped her neck) the dog off and put her in her cage. Abby was MORTIFIED. I calmed her down and told her she wasn't in trouble but it was very important that she tell me what she was doing to the dog. She replied "I tried to pick her up". My immediate reaction was to defend the dog. I told Abby the dog is too big for you to pick up and you probably hurt her. Of course her feelings were then VERY hurt, as that was obviously not her intention, nor did she expect the dog to attack her.

I went and gave Abby a bath and the more I though about it, the more I was not comfortable with the reaction from the dog. The dogs claws scratched Abby's forehead, neck, and arms, and the dogs tooth left a nice mark on her left cheek bone just under her eye. What this dog did was not a "warning", nor a reaction to pain. I also talked to my neighbor across the street who fosters dogs, and she said to get rid of the dog. I've been around dogs all of my life, even aggressive non kid friendly ones and not seen a reaction like that. Now, had Abby been pulling the dogs ears, slapping her, kicking her, or other forms of torment I could somewhat understand that form of a reaction, but even then, even the biggest dogs don't attack, but they certainly let you know they will hurt you if you continue, they "warn" and yes sometimes those warnings draw blood. But, Abby wasn't doing any of those things, nor has she ever to any animal because she knows and learned at an early age, I will beat your ass if you harm an animal.

Abby has always been apprehensive around animals, her dad is that way. I think this dog sensed Abby as being weak/scared. Abby is somewhat afraid of dogs. Abby will never walk up to any animal and pet it, not even itty bitty dogs. There were a few times this past week where the dog had run after Abby for whatever reason or when Abby had food the dog would try to grab it and Abby became fearful.

It doesn't really matter at this point why the dog reacted that way. I'm disappointed as is Abby, but my child is more important, and after that I would have never felt comfortable leaving Abby alone with the dog, and I wouldn't have felt comfortable having other people bring their children around the dog. So, the dog went. I'm thankful I was within arms reach when it happened.

I thought I had learned all the lessons I needed to, to be prepared to own a dog. I don't want a puppy, I don't want to potty train, and I now know I do not want a rescue dog, it's clearly risky when you have small children. Maybe that's common sense and I should've already known that, but I would rather save an animal than go buy one, but that's not an option now unfortunately.

Such is life. I have not given up completely on the dog idea. But, I may need to stick with lap dogs. Chihuahuas or something of that nature. Abby wants a dog, she likes dogs, but has always feared being attacked, and now that has happened. If I give up on getting her a dog, she'll always fear them and think they all act that way. One day she may come up against a viscous dog, and she needs to know how to not fear it.

I'm trying to raise Abby by the "wish factor". I wish a mutha fucka would! LMAO!

For a job extra well done....

I got a raise today!!! YAY ME! I didn't even ask for it...how good is THAT! Go me.. Go me.. Go me.. (does a dance). =)
