Is it Friday yet?

Everything is good here. Abby has recovered beautifully from her surgery. I can now say she no longer snores!! She has been having a great time at summer camp. They have 1-2 field trips a week! Last week they went bowling on Tuesday, and went to Rainforest Cafe on Thursday. They have water day in between which obviously is her favorite. :)

We went to see Phillip's dad in Killeen this past Saturday. He sold his house down here since moving back to Korea, and came to wrap some stuff up. We had some good eating on Saturday. Love me some Korean food. We went to Round Rock in Austin where Phillip's dad pretty much bought the place for Abby. LOL! It was brutally hot.

Yesterday I marked off one of my many things on the house project list. We bought a new ceiling fan for the living room. I LOVE it!! Phillip installed it sparing all but one cuss word I think. lol Next will be new doors. 2 more months and I will have quite a bit of money to accomplish the rest with. I cannot believe my baby is going to Kindergarten!

I've made Friday my ritual girls night. It is so hard for me to find women that I get along with, and I've found 3!! They are so much fun to be around, and for whatever reason think I'm a hoot. lol Phillip typically has softball Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, not to mention the couple days during the week. I don't mind him playing softball at all, but I'm not gonna be the mom who sits at home all the time, or is always lugging the kid around when I want to go somewhere. I need "ME TIME"! Kathy plays tennis which I've been DYING to do but I had noone to play with! So we're going to start at some point, but it's damn hot out there.

Next weekend us girls are going to Six Flags which I'm stoked about. Then July 25th we're all going to see The Reverend Horton Heat!! WOOT!! I missed them in June because Phillip wanted me at his tournament that Saturday. This time I'm not missing them!!

Phillip and I are still discussing Las Vegas for our birthdays. I haven't ever been, and it will be good alone time for me and Phillip.

Just the usual hustle and bustle around here. That's all I've got folks. Tata!

Whew..long week.

Abby had her surgery this past Monday. Everything went very well. She did excellent! She continues to do excellent, and we're on our 3rd post op day. It's supposed to get really nasty between now and Sunday. Although based on the past 4 days, she will fly right through it. I have pictures from pre-op and post-op, I will have to upload later as I'm blogging from work. LOL Abby is at home with Nana.

We got to the hospital Monday at 7:00 a.m.. She was scared but determined to be brave. I explained Saturday and Sunday what they were going to do step by step, minus the OR procedure. lol They gave her a cocktail around 8:00 a.m., and whilst most people find it amusing to see a child "high" or "drunk" it's actually quite heartbreaking. It is kinda funny, but it quickly turns not funny when you remember they are completely confused and scared that they are feeling that way. She was having double vision, she kept grabbing for the wall, and the curtain thinking it was right there, but instead she was grabbing air. She kept saying "there's TWO Handy Manny's!" ROFL! Unfortunately I had to suffer through that for close to 40 minutes before they finally took her back. She was calm...obviously. All the nurses and doctors that came in contact with her absolutely adored her, that made it easier on her too.

The surgery lasted almost 40 minutes. Phillip and I got to back to recovery shortly after, and she was holding her own oxygen mask. (I have a cute picture) The nurse said, she is the best patient I've had in a looong time. She woke with no trouble from anesthesia (most children are combative) and he was trying to put the oxygen on her, she grabbed the mask and said " I can do it". LMAO! He must have asked me and Phillip 2 or 3 times what the secret was to having such a mature 5 1/2 yr. old. I was such a proud mama. We got to her room sometime after 10:00 a.m.. She might have opened her eyes twice since they woke her. She slept until 2:30p.m.. She woke up and asked for some Jello. She ate probably 8 bites, she refused to let me feed her, said she could do it. Then she threw that up, and she requested mac 'n cheese. She ate several bites of that and threw it up. She didn't cry one time. She went back to sleep after requesting waffles for when she woke up. LMAO! They make them very squishy in the hospital.

My dad and his wife came and visited for a little bit. She tried to stay awake, but lost that battle. She never let her trusty Stitch (Lelo & Stitch movie) out of her sight the whole time we were at the hospital. My doctor also gave her a surgery doctor bear that she didn't let leave her sight either. She finally came to for a few hours around 5:00p.m. She was an absolute Angel the entire time. I could not ask for a better behaved child, or one with a better personality, she exceeds anything I could have ever hoped for.

She finally got discharged Tuesday around 10:00 a.m.. She was MORE than ready to go. She was ready to change her clothes (several times) and play babies. I left her with Nana and daddy, and I went to work for the afternoon. The worst days are between the 3-5 day. I requested Thurs. and Fri. off, but ended up taking Wednesday because I was tired, which puts me at work today, and off tomorrow. lol She is drinking well, eating well, and all in all being herself. She had 0 pain meds until yesterday. She had none in the hospital (not including anesthesia). She's a tough cookie. But, her throat is starting to scab and get tight, so I went ahead and started giving it, I don't know when the shit will hit the fan.

All of her neighborhood friends brought her gifts yesterday! It was sooo sweet! Abby was just standing there every time the doorbell rang like "is it my birthday?". lol They all brought coloring books, stamps, markers, puzzles, balloons. So sweet. We have really nice neighbors, and they all love them some Abby.

I wish I could take her swimming this weekend, I know she's itching to. Phillip and I took her to a friend's bbq this past Saturday and she got to swim all day because I knew she wouln't be able to swim for awhile, so she'll be ok till next weekend.

That's all I have for now. :)

It's Friday again...

YAY! I love me some Friday!

I'd love to recap the whole week, but I was not blessed with that skill. I can't sit down and list out what's happening next week, nor can I tell you what happened this past week on the exact days, I just blabber. Sometimes it's stuff that's happened over 3 weeks all rolled into one post. Nothing exciting happened though. Same ole.

It turns out Little Elm now has a Youth Soccer Association. So whereas before I was going to register Abby for The Colony to start in August, I will now have to register her in Little Elm to start in September. I'm not excited about either location. Whilst I love our house, and I think we picked a great location -(we are literally on the line of Frisco and Little Elm), we didn't buy on the Frisco side of the street. A little frustrating, and even more, something our freekin realtor should have informed us of...things you learn being a first time buyer. Anyway, if you go further west from our subdivision about 20 minutes, the area changes scenary, and the people to go with it. The same is true of The Colony. Unless you own one of the newer homes closer to 121 where it doesn't smell like sewage, then you're rubbing shoulders with the less than appealing. I know how stuck up that must sound, but it is what it is.

Buying a condo/loft sounds very appealing to Phillip and I, so we will see once the tollway is finished what we're going to do. I'll know more once Abby has been in school for a little while as to whether I still feel we are in the area we need to be in. Little Elm schools are ranked well, my biggest concern is education. I would prefer to not have to pay for private school if she can get what she needs socially and academically from public school.

On another note, I went on a rampage in Abby's room yesterday. I cleaned out ALOT of clothes and toys for donation. Some of the stuff hadn't even been worn. I'm lazy and detest the thought of making the effort to sell stuff. I've always given it away to people we know, or I donate. The opportunity to sell it has been presented by use of someone else's garage sale. lol I think I will make an attempt at going through the stuff and see what can be sold. I don't particularly want to go sit outside and sell stuff I paid $50.00 for, for $20.00 but, I guess it's better than nothing.

I got Abby's Kindergarten "supply list". Lord. When I went to school you showed up with a crayola box, a box of crayola's, glue, and scissors, oh and a backpack to put it in. Not anymore. This list has at least 20 items, and it's not just one of that item, but 2. I've been informed that the second set of that item is requested to supply the underpriveleged children with. WTF kind of shit is that? So I get to provide people who don't work... with an income, supply their health insurance, and now, pay for their children's school supplies. I think the government (particularly Obama Bin Laden) has gotten confused as to the meaning of "free country".

That's about all I have to say today.

She graduated...and is off to Kindy.

My baby graduated from Pre-K yesterday evening. It was cute to see all these little kids in cap and gowns! I only cried once. I was doing really well until her teacher got up there to do her speech and she started crying like a baby. It only seemed fair that someone cry with her.=) I got lots of pics but, I can't upload until we get our computer back (it's being fixed). I'm having to utilize my work computer or my phone for the internet.

Abby was quite the performer. She was blowing kisses and curtsying(sp?). She was born for the stage it would appear. She is an entertainer.

She starts school end of August, and I have her set up for after-school care right by our house. They will pick her up and take her there until I come get her. I'm so sad. There really is no way to prepare for this. She is so full of life, she's eager to learn and do, and I'm not ready for that. I want my baby that used to chew on my nose and scoot across the floor on her back because she hadn't figured out how to crawl, but she had places to go. LOL My baby that was 6.04 and looked full blown Asian is taking her first steps into this big world. I'm horrified and hopeful at the same time. You only get to hold their hands a little while....it's not long enough.

It's almost Friday...

I have so much to do and little time to do it. I decided to post a blog instead of start packing. I HATE packing..so I will procrastinate.

Monday I went and had parent/teacher conference with Abby's teacher. She had really great things to say and it was comforting to hear. Overall the teacher described her as a social butterfly, creative, an entertainer, and very smart. I'm so proud.=)

We registered her for school on Tuesday. She starts August 24th. =( I thought her Pre-k graduation was going to be end of April but it wasn't, it's May 28th. They are having a surprise party for the kids that morning, and the ceremony is that evening off site. LOL These people are acting like it's high school. lmao! I was getting teared up today just thinking about it! My baby is all grown up, it's all uphill from here. Tuesday Phillip and I also celebrated our 7year anniversary. =)

On another note, Abby has this little friend down the street. UGH! I can't STAND this little girl. She's a year older than Abby, and she's a typical girl already. She tries to act cooler, act older, act like her shit doesn't stink. It's so aggravating. Abby doesn't take any shit off of her though, it's so funny. When this girl starts going off on one of her dramatic, animated stories, Abby's like BLA BLA BLA you can go home. ROFL! Everyday they end up in a fight and it's time for the girl to go home, and I think " good they won't want to play together tomorrow"....NOPE. Every damn day this little girl wants to come play. Even more irritating, the mother sends her over here hungry. WTF is that about?? I mean, I don't mind feeding her but, your house is down the street, if you're hungry...go home. Sheesh!

I can't wait to get the hell out of dodge on Friday. We are taking Abby's long time friend Bailey with us to San Antonio. She's 6 months older than Abby. They are going to have so much fun! Abby doesn't have a sibling so, Phillip and I will get used to taking one of Abby's friends for family trips.

Well I guess I should get packing. =)

Weekend wrap-up...and some rambling

I had a pretty mellow weekend, relaxing. Sadly, I'm going completely blank on what we did Friday night.

Saturday I got my hair cut and colored, I'm pretty much blonde again, but not as light as before. I've been tanning since last week, or I should say burning which is now turning to tan. Phillip, Abby, and I went and had dinner at Applebees which has a pretty darn good deal of 2 meals for $20. You get 2 entrees and an appetizer. It was darn good too. Then we went to Toys R Us to purchase Abby a jump rope and hula hoop. We set off to Stonebriar afterwards to purchase yet some more stuff for Abby. LMAO We got her a SUPER cute two-piece bathing suit from the Disney store. She is still an avid fan of Ariel. She also got a very cute yellow sundress with a small Ariel and flounder on it, and yet another Ariel doll. We proceeded to the movie theatre and saw Wolverine. Abby slept through it. It was ok. I think the next one will be better.

I had intended to accomplish getting a bathing suit this weekend too. I refuse to purchase a new bathing suit until I get my ass in shape-literally. There was this super cute bathing suit at Forever 21 that I set out to purchase....until I put it on. O M G. I will spare you the detailed description of the shape my ass is in. Granted I have been excercising but not consistantly, and I waited too late to start to be bathing suit worthy by this weekend. So for the first time in my life I will wear shorts or a sarong to cover the atrociousness that has become my rear-end. Gotta love having babies. :-s Also for the first time ever I will wear a bathing suit from last year. I know, completely unacceptable.

Sunday I accompanied my stepmother, my sister, and my nieces shopping. My oldest niece is 13-enough said. It was brutal. Then I enjoyed most of the evening with Phillip and Abby watching her hula hoop and Phillip and I teaching her how to jump rope.

I got a disturbing call from one of my very good friends Sunday night. Her husband is an addict. He has been struggling for years with sobriety. He can't manage more than 6 months before falling off the wagon again. She was looking for my advice.Unfortunately two children are caught in the midst of all this. I have been on both sides of the fence. I have been the child who's mother didn't leave, and I have been the mother who had to make a choice. Neither is a pretty place to be. I can't reitterate my opinion to people enough, the importance of getting the fuck out if they are actively using or drinking. Don't stay together for the kids, get the hell out for the kids. My mother did what she thought was best for her 3 children, god love her for that. That's all any parent can do is the best they can with the circumstances at hand. The thing that mothers/fathers struggle with is, how do I explain to my children?

My question to my mother at 14 was, WHY did you stay? Her answer- "because I thought it was best for my children. I couldn't have supported all 4 of us, I wasn't working, god knows what would have happened, and how you would have turned out. You had nice clothes, a nice home, most of what you wanted and everything you needed." My response- "I can't wear those clothes anymore, we don't have that house, and you see how I've turned out now." All of this was brought out in counseling that was court ordered due to the fact that I had runaway more than 3 times, and was locked up at a runaway shelter until they could figure out why I was "acting out". After that day I never asked her again. I was never angry with her about it again, I accepted her answer and knew she really had tried her best. I continued to runaway until 2weeks before I turned 17 and would then be "legal" at that point my mom opted to not call the cops on me again to go collect me. lol As a mother now, I realize the gravity of the decision she had to make, and based on those circumstances and that era, I most likely would have made the same choice.

Can I say what will happen if the mother/father leaves....no. I can give you a pretty damn good idea of what's going to happen if they stay. The longer you expose them to that sickness and the cycle that is alcoholism/addiction the more likely they are to follow in that path. That will be their "normal". They will pick their spouse based on the relationship they saw between an addict/alcoholic and an enabler, and they will start their own cycle. This is also a possibility even if you leave the situation.

My advice to my friend is do what is best for your children's "future". Educate...educate...educate your children on the disease of alcoholism/addiction. If you stay or if you go, get them into counseling, get them to Al-Anon.

This subject always hits too close to home and makes me ache. I too brought a child into this cycle and I wake up in a panic at night in fear of decisions I have made and will make, that may cause irreversible damage to my baby. Quite frankly, my fear is that she will turn out like me.

As always, that's me rambling. ;)

The little things

I had a terrible week last week. I won't recap all that, but I will recap the good things.

I had the best shave of my life using the razor I bought for Phillip! It was as close to a wax as you can get! So smooth! My razor with a brand new blade doesn't shave like that. I'm buying a mans razor this weekend.

I started exercising. Nothing huge, just squats with my pilates ball and stair steps. I'm trying to tone my ass and legs as I will have to get in a bathing suit in less than 2 weeks. Besides that, it makes me feel good. Who doesn't like feeling good??

Phillip got me a tanning membership for Mother's Day! Yay! So even if I don't get all tone, I'll be tan. ;)

Phillip and I are in discussion of going to Las Vegas for our birthdays in August. We're supposed to be going to Korea in September but, that's becoming quite the challenge. Abby starts school in August, she also starts soccer in August. She would be out of school for 2 weeks and obviously miss soccer as well. I'm really pushing to hold off on going until end of this year, or beginning of next. I know it's brutally cold around that time, and there will be enormous heaps of snow but, we have hot weather here. I will enjoy it regardless of the weather.

All in all I feel great, very optimistic. It's a great feeling.
